Charles Ritz was born on the 11th August 1891. He was the first son of Caesar and Marie-Louise Ritz, born Beck. He was soon interested in the hotel business and followed in his father's footsteps. After Caesar Ritz's death he helped his mother cope with the numerous tasks, from management to organization. Charles Ritz became the president of the «Ritz» in Paris after his mother died.
He was in America for a while where he acquired new ideas. In contradiction to his father he rejected the thesis that the guest is always right. Charles Ritz was obviously influenced slightly by his passion for fishing, as he was a master of fly-fishing. Many wins and even the world champion title tempted him to write a book on fly-fishing.
